Grilled Tofu With Quinoa And Peach Salsa
Mason's parents love estate sales as much as we do, so we go to as many as we possibly can whenever they come down for the weekend. Two weeks ago, we scored a ton of stuff (including an awesome vintage Columbia exercise bike that rides better than anything at the gym), but the best deal of all was The Griddler. It seems as though somebody thought Grandma would like to make herself a shitload of paninis--and Grandma disagreed. There were two brand new presses wrapped in plastic sitting completely untouched in their original boxes. One was a smaller Krups and the other was a Cuisinart Griddler. Both were $12. We settled on The Griddler, and it was the best kitchen purchase we've made in a long time. This grill makes the best grilled tofu ever! Just set it to sear and let it get extremely hot, slice the tofu however you like and leave it for 5-10 minutes. No sticking! We ate ours with leftover quinoa and fresh peach salsa made by Mason from entirely local ingredients. Although I'm glad that we didn't have to, it would have been worth paying the full price for a grill/griddle that works as well as this. I can't wait to try making pancakes on the griddle plates. I'm a huge Cuisinart fan, by the way. We paid $99 for our food processor almost 7 years ago, use it several times a week, and have never had even the slightest hint of a problem with it.

that looks like the best tofu ever! i never would have thought to use that griddler for tofu! brilliant! peach salsa & quinoa?! oh my goodness! it sounds like a really awesome meal. and what a great deal on your purchase, too. gotta love that!
Oh I'm so envious of your kitchen devices. I am seriously lacking when it comes to modern devices for the kitchen. I just find them way too expensive for my pocketbook. I wish I could find a $12 griddler/panini press at an estate or garage sale here in my city. Your meal looks incredible...mmmm peach salsa sounds divine! I've tried mango salsa before but never peach...note to self...buy peaches :)
Great scoore from the estate sale!! That plate of food looks like it belongs on the table at a fancy restaurant!!
